Ancient Artisan Moonlight White Cake

A 2021 Limited Edition, the leaves of this tea, an actual Yue Guang Bai (Moonlight White) from ancient tea trees as old as 400 years old in the high mountains of Yunnan, were  handpicked and processed on a full moon. The locals believe this special tea holds the energy and spirit from the moon. The tea gets its name from its unique shape and color. One side of the leaf is white, the other is shadowy black which resembles the moon.

 

The production method is a closely-guarded secret from hundreds of years. The cool spring weather gives the slow-growing buds a concentrated flavor and aroma, and provides the climatic conditions for the proper withering and curing of this tea. Between March to May, the leaves are harvested in limited quantities when the first buds and tender tea leaves emerge on the ancient tea trees. This tea is delicately-air dried.

 

There are many ideas about what kind of tea a Yue Guang Bai (Moonlight White) is. The Yunnan people regard it as a white tea; a Puer, when pressed into cakes.

2.5- 3 oz of water using a Gaiwan

Brewing Time:

Infuse for 3- 5 sec. Add at least 3 sec per infusion for succeeding infusions. Adjust time depending on preferred strength of flavor. Do not oversteep.
